Education


We are now taking registrations for the 2019-20 educational programs at the Memphis Islamic Center. Most programs will resume in August. Be sure to attend the orientation sessions of the first day of the program to learn more about curriculum, meet the teachers and ask any questions. Below are brief descriptions of the programs and respective start dates.

  • MOTHER’S DAY OUT (MDO):  Pre-school program focusing on age-appropriate English, Arabic language, math and Islamic studies. Ages 2-5 Mondays and Wednesday 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM. Starts in August.
  • ALKITAB PROGRAM: Quran reading and recitation using the Qaeeda Nooraniyah and Qaeeda Makkyah curricula. Students will learn to read and recite the Quran. Advanced levels will recite the whole Quran with a teacher. Memorization is also offered for qualified and interested students. Ages 5 and above. Fridays and Sundays 5:30pm – 7:30pm. Starts in August.
  • WEEKEND SCHOOL: Practical Islamic studies, Quran recitation and memorization, Arabic, outdoor activities, etc. Integrated curriculum to insure continuous learning at each level and measurable learning outcome. For example by the end of the level one ( 5-6 year-olds), students will be able make adhan, perform wudu and salat and memorize up to 10 short surah. Sundays 10:00AM – 2:00PM. Starts in August.
  • KARATE:  Self-defense training offered by licensed Muslim instructor. Tuesdays 6-7 pm and Sundays 2:30 – 3:30pm. Starts in August.
  • SUMMER BREAK HIFZ PROGRAM: Quran Hifz with Hafiz Omar Bah, who holds a masters from the Islamic University of Madina, for ages 7-14  MIC Mondays – Thursdays from 7:30PM – 9:30PM. Fee is $150. Starts Monday June 10th, 2019.
