MIC Announces Six (6) New Trustees

The Board of the Memphis Islamic Center is pleased to announce the addition of six (6) new trustees to the Board of Trustees as a result of the recent board expansion process. We are very excited to welcome the following distinguished community members to the MIC leadership team.
  • Dr Adnan Naseer
    Dr Naseer is among the early supporters of the Memphis Islamic Center project. Dr Naseer is a physician with over  25 years of diverse experiences, especially in nephrology and geriatric medicine. He is the current chair of MIC fundraising committee. He is also a key member of the leadership team of the Memphis Muslim Medical Clinic. His exceptional people and organizing skills constitute a great asset. We look forward to leveraging these qualities in moving MIC to the next phase insha Allah.
  •  Dr Ibrahim SultanAli
    Dr SultanAli is a pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine specialist and an assistant professor at UT Health Sciences Center. He previously served as president of the Pleasant View School Board of Directors. He brings a wealth of community engagement and non-profit management experience to MIC.
  • Dr Mehmet Kocak
    Dr Kocak is an associate professor of biostatistics and preventive medicine at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. He previously served as Treasurer on the Board of Directors of the Pleasant View School. His dedication, rigor and financial management experience will be a great asset to the Memphis Islamic Center.
  • Sr Judy Knefati
    Sr Judy is a passionate educator and an active member of the Memphis Islamic Center Youth group from the beginning. She played a crucial role in the redesign of the Manarah Day School, MIC’s part time pre-school program. She taught/worked in various local school districts prior to joining Pleasant View School where she currently teaches 5th grade. We look forward to drawing on her expertise in education and youth issues as we continue to enhance our educational programs to better meet the needs of our  families.
  • Br Hasnain Zaman
    Br. Hasnain is a computer engineer by profession working in the Information Security field. He is also a long time MIC supporter and dedicated volunteer with a great track record of community service with non-profit charities. His expertise and enthusiasm in Audio visual communication and IT is highly valuable. We look forward to his continued leadership in these areas as an MIC Board member.
  • Br Sameer Mansour
    Br Sameer is a biomedical engineer at Smith & Nephew. He brings with him extensive experience in community service especially youth engagement. He was instrumental in the creation of two key Memphis-area youth organizations: Muslim Basketball League and 901 Ummah. Br Sameer’s experience and perspective will be highly crucial in channeling and fulfilling the needs of young American Muslims.
We would like to thank all the nominees for their willingness to dedicate time to lead our common family life Center. We ask Allah to Give guidance and support to the new MIC leadership so we can serve Him and His religion in the way that pleases Him.
